Fees & Rebates
The Australian Psychological Society sets guidelines for fees for psychological services. The recommended fee for a 50 minute individual consultation for the period 1st July 2018 until 30 June 2019 is $251. Jessica’s fee for a 50 minute session is $200.
Referrals can be made through a variety of methods, often enabling clients to reduce the out of pocket expense incurred.
The Medicare rebate for clinical psychology services is currently set at $124.50 per 50 minute session.
Medicare rebates are available to eligible clients through the Better Access to Mental Health Care Scheme following assessment with a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician. Following a mental health review, you may be eligible for up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year.
To determine if you are eligible for the Medicare rebate for psychological services, make an appointment with your GP and be sure to book a longer session as this is often required to complete a mental health review.
If your GP’s assessment deems you eligible to receive treatment through Medicare, they will complete a Mental Health Care Plan. Following an initial 6 sessions with your psychologist, your GP will then carry out a review, following which you may be eligible for a further 4 sessions if required.
Medicare Safety Net
Once you or your family reach the relevant threshold in the calendar year, Medicare benefits will increase to 100 per cent of the Government-determined schedule fee under the original Safety Net, and 80 per cent of your total out-of-pocket expenses for out-of-hospital services under the extended Medicare Safety Net. The Medicare Safety Net is designed to protect high users of health services from large out-of-pocket expenses.
Visit the Medicare website for more information on the Medicare Safety Net.
Concessions are available to Health Care card holders, with reduced out of pocket expenses, provided clients are referred under the Medicare Better Access Scheme.
Private Health Cover
Most private health funds provide rebates for psychological services depending upon your level
of cover. For clients with private health insurance, please contact your provider to enquire about
rebates you may be eligible for.
You can also choose to see Jessica as a private client. No referral is required; however, the full fee is payable.
If for some reason you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide 24 to 48 hours’ notice. Failure to attend or provide notice may result in a cancellation fee.Contact
